Recruited into the U.S. Army at age 19 out of her hometown of Syracuse, NY, she spent six years as a public affairs specialist, and by the end of her second deployment to Iraq, she knew she needed to use her propaganda powers for good instead of evil. She has another new album in the works, and often showcases new and unreleased material on her bi-weekly podcast, What the Folk, with writer/librarian Sarah Baranauskas, which centers on music, politics, art, and activism.
